We have to address the upcoming need for students to be in a position to graduate from high school in 3 decades, instead of four. As national and world economies continue to head towards a depression, students parents will probably continue to lose jobs and their homes. As a result, students will increasingly need to help earn money for the household.

I see a more long-term trend in seniors not returning for the spring session, then juniors not showing up for their senior year.

Either we help them meet their goals of graduating "premature," or they will simply shed out. Either we step up to the question and extend positive solutions, or even students and their parents will figure out their own solutions and go around us. We are already on the brink of becoming extinct as an institution (the 1920's model of factory education has run its course), therefore if we are to present ourselves as a valuable route in life, we need to alter the way in which we do business.
