My Career Goals

# of Words: 414

A resume is a brief, one or two page document, which outlines your career objectives, experiences and achievements, and your educational history, publications and associations. At the top of your resume, you would like to be sure to include your name, address, and also the way to reach you. This may include your home phone, your cell phone, and your email address.

The entire body of your resume must be broken down into the following sections: Career Objective Profile Professional Highlights Achievements Education Publications, Associations, etc. Your career goal should be fairly short, no more than 2 paragraphs. The target is to give your prospective employer a concept of how you want your career to progress, and what you want in your next job.

Following this should be a concise profile, which should go over that you have, and how your skills can apply to the job which you are interested in. Employers like to see an immediate connection between your skills and their opening. In your profile, then you should be sure not to include anything which talks about your ethnicity, gender, or anything that isn't relevant to the job. You want it to contain one to three written paragraphs that describe what you would bring to the position, whether implemented. You wish to draw their attention here, but you don't wish to go ahead, or state things which are not correct.

Your career highlights should incorporate information on the last few positions you've held, and also talking about what you've done inside them. You want your prospective employer to be aware of the successes you've had at past jobs.

Finally, when you have relevant volunteer work, courses, publications, or any other activities, you should list them at the bottom. Your prospective employer will likely be interested in talking about these things. Not only are they interesting, but they are distinct from what other individuals have on their resume. In the technologically drive world of job searching, your resume has to represent you to prospective employers. A resume will help you stand out, but a typical resume will give you with a probability of landing a position. Think of resume as your elevator speech, your 2 minute pitch about who you are and what you do. Make sure your resume displays that you are, and what you are about, this implies it should be evident of any mistakes, such as typos or other problemsminor. Remember, this page is all you get to make an impression.
