Love is a complex and unique emotion which is quite tricky to understand.
Although the majority of people today believe that love revolves around the
heart, it really happens in the mind. Painters, poets and artists all epitomize
the heart as the love emblem, but it is the mind that generates chemical signs
to make love is understood by people.
There are various types and styles of expressing love. To describe these styles, the Ancient Greeks came up with four terms to symbolize the four kinds of love. This is an unconditional love that sees beyond the outer surface and also accepts the recipient for whom he/she's, irrespective of their defects, shortcomings or faults.
It's the kind of love which everyone strives to have for their fellow human beings. Even though you may not love someone, you choose to love them just as an individual being. This sort of love is all about sacrifice as well as contributing and expecting nothing in return. The translation of the term agape is love in the verb - form: it's the love demonstrated by your behavior towards another person. The phileo love refers to an affectionate, warm and tender platonic love. It's the sort of love that livens up the Agape love. Even though you may have a love for your enemies, you may not have a phileo love for the same people.
The translation of the word phileo is love in the noun - form: it is the way you feel about someone. This is the love that parents naturally feel for their children; the love that member of the family need for each other; and also the love that friends feel for each other. In some cases, this friendship love could turn into a relationship, and the couple in a relationship becomes best friends. Storge love is unconditional, accepts defects or flaws and drives you to forgive. It's committed, sacrificial and makes you feel safe, comfortable and secure. Eros is a passionate and intense love that arouses romantic feelings; it's the kind which frequently activates "High" feelings in a new relationship and makes you say, "I love him/her".
Though this romantic love is important in the beginning of a relationship, it may not last unless it moves a notch higher because it concentrates more on self instead of the other person. In case the person "In love" does not feel great about their relationship anymore, they will stop loving their partner. This only extends to you an overall understanding and description of the four kinds of love that promotes a great, wholesome and progressive relationship. In any relationship, you ought to have these four loves working together to allow it endure for a longer time. In some cases, a relationship could be long-lasting in case partners share the identical style of love.
