In my years of instructing individuals to get a spiritual experience, I have discovered that the greatest obstacle for the majority of folks is the distraction of the brain. Many people struggle with a "drifting head" as they sit in quiet trying to receptive to spiritual realities. Their ideas about the physical universe keep interfering with their focus on the spiritual realms.

To obtain more depth in quiet periods of spiritual attunement, I propose a practice that: ( keeps your head geared toward a calming focal point; also (two) touches your heart.

The following approach utilizes the power of the imagination to stir thoughts about the spiritual realms. It focuses the mind upon notions that may arouse profound spiritual feelings. It is essential to excite feelings, for it is through our own feelings, not our ideas, that we perceive the spiritual realities of life. To deepen your spiritual encounter, every day you may take a period of time in which you produce a sacred moment employing the light of a candle as your focal point. That light will soon be symbolic of the majesty of God in all of its forms. Learning to concentrate upon this mild in the following fashion is able to help you have a more profound spiritual experience.

Step One. Begin your spiritual attunement by assuming a position with the unlit candle sitting on your table in front of you. Take a few deep breaths and relax your entire body. Sit quietly for a minute, looking calmly at the unlit candle. Easily rest your gaze on the back of the candle. No matter what your mind might be doing, just let your attention remain concentrated on the unlit wick. Do this gently and easily, without forcing yourself, without fretting in any way. Become open and receptive as you look at the wick of the candle. This type of giving during your inner attunement period will start you to give longer in your daily life to day relationships with others.

You may establish an ongoing "spirit of giving" that can have a powerful effect on the folks around you, inviting them to be more open and loving to the people in their own lives. The giving of the gift of love is a more means to share the forces of God, a sense that other folks can see and sense. Where the forces of God are invisible to them, they are made visible in the actions that you take in love. The power of this method lies in the mindset with which you utilize it. Sticking to your exercise of this technique each day with a feeling of the wonderful beauty of lifestyle, along with a feeling of your own goodness as a being, will exude a fantastic depth and intensity into your attunement encounter. Such an approach will gradually open your feelings to the magnificence of the spiritual realities as you work with this particular method day by day. As you use this technique consistently over a period of time, you will begin to sense the fire of spiritual love heating you longer and much more from within, bring you adventures of amazing upliftment and delight. Then, as you allow your own fire of love to leap higher in your sharing with others, you will create a radiance and brilliance in your daily expression that can touch and benefit lots of people during your lifetime.
